Guernsey Women’s Cricket Team wear their new kit & take part in the Queen’s Baton Relay

We were at KGV yesterday with the Guernsey Cricket’s women’s team, as they wore their smart Gower sponsored kit in a competitive fixture for the first time.

Following their game against Griffins CC, the team took part in the Queen’s Baton Relay as part of the build up to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in July.  Women’s cricket will appear at the games for the first time and the ladies worked with the team from Spike Productions on creating some promotional footage.

As part of the event, the Guernsey Cricket Roadshow was on hand to provide fun activities for kids, including a bowling machine and a speed gun to record throwing and bowling speeds, and the younger members of the women and girls cricket programme took part in a fun, informal game of pairs cricket.

All in all, a great day in the sunshine at the home of Guernsey cricket, and valuable practice for the team ahead of the upcoming inter-insular fixtures in Jersey in a couple of weeks.
